What’s this? A new blog in 2024?
And on top of that—not another ham radio blog? Makes no sense, right? Ham radio blogger and RF influencer isn’t exactly on the list of “most attractive jobs for men or women.” But hey, that’s not what this is about.
I’m Jay (N2NVY), a General-class amateur radio operator. I’ve been into the hobby for a few years now, and my buddies and I tend to dive into a lot of “rabbit holes” within the radio world. As a proud member of Generation X, I grew up feral (as we all did), undiagnosed with any medical titles, but I often find myself disorganized, distracted, and juggling too many things at once.
Here’s how it usually goes: I’ll pour a ton of energy into mastering some task or process, only to put it down for weeks or months. Then, when I come back to it, I’m back at square one. Sound familiar? To counter this, I’ve been slowly (very slowly) documenting and journaling my tasks and projects, so I can pick up where I left off instead of starting from scratch. My notes are scattered everywhere—on my phone, scraps of paper, notebooks, and my Google Drive. You get the idea.
So, I’ve decided to organize everything online and share it with others. This blog is part quick reference, part how-to demos, part links to useful resources, and part exploration of all the random adventures I dive into (radio-related or not). It’s primarily for me, but who knows? Maybe someone else will find it helpful or interesting.
If you’re reading this, thanks for stopping by. I hope you find something useful here or that we can exchange ideas and learn from each other.
*** AI Disclaimer: If you couldn’t already tell… AI lends a hand here. Like much of the content you read online these days, AI assists with editing, structuring content, and even creating the artwork. For me, personally, it’s a great time-saver and helps make things more efficient, allowing me to focus on sharing ideas and insights about the Ham Radio hobby. While the machine provides support, the ideas, content, and posts are entirely my own or created in collaboration with others.
